Heading back (slowly)

31/07/19 – we’re close to Stockholm now after a longer ride yesterday which took us about 6 hours of driving for roughly 500kms further down south. We stopped at a camp ground last night and headed out this morning. We thought about staying there because the place by itself was really beautiful… But besides of the great view there wasn’t much that could convince us to stay a little longer. For some reasons most of the places we’ve stayed at felt a little old or hadn’t had enough showers /…

Taking it easy now

24/07/19 – 500km down south, almost half of the way between lulea and umea, we found a great new camp ground where we now will stay at for a good week. 2 days ago we took of from Kiruna heading back where we came from. It’s been amazing even though the weather wasn’t as good as here. Rain, high winds and the never setting sun took a toll on us. So we packed up and left around lunch time and got to our stop in between kiruna and here where…

Kiruna, Abisko and the Kungsleden

21/07/19 – I was so tired this morning. I just couldn’t get up to start the day. Maybe because it was way after midnight when I finally passed out last “night”. The sun came into my tent and heated me up so that I got up and started moving. It became a routine to stow away my tent before breakfast so everyone was waiting for me to be done. Around 10:30am we headed out to Abisko which is another hour of driving away from our camp. The way was beautiful…

The Arctic circle

21/07/19 – we made it to and beyond the Arctic circle safe and sound 🙂 to be honest it wasn’t as impressive as thought but still interesting. Up here, the sun will never sink below the horizon for a certain amount of time during summer time and will not reach the horizon half a year later during winter time. These are just a couple of weeks at the most but we lucked out on being here to witness the so called midnight sun. It’s weird to have day light all…

Almost there

19/07/19 – I’m tired. I think we all are exhausted from traveling for so long. even the breaks we take do not help that much as thought. We made it to camp around 3:30pm today after we’ve left about 10:30am this morning. It’s been a late start for us but we made good progress on the way up here. This place is probably one of my favorite spots we came across yet. We are on a peninsula which is sourounded by the Baltic Sea. Even though it’s located a little…

Northern Sweden

18/07/19 – Sweden in general left me in awe of mother nature’s beauty. I couldn’t take my eyes off of every single patch of it where ever we were. But Sweden’s north is more appealing to me since it’s rougher, vast and more untouched by humans then down south (at least that’s my feeling). I know I already mentioned it but it reminds me of the AT in Maine… Today was once again a lazy one due to not having to drive somewhere and resting (or zeroing) for a bit.…

Traveling day (part 4)

17/07/19 – today we had a very late start. This morning little Blade’s travel bed broke down so we had to workaround this issue to be able to get back to sleep. Since it’s kinda insecure for him to sleep in there anymore,we decided to get a new one from a store. After breakfast I broke camp and we took the car a couple km back to the town we passed through yesterday. we also bought some groceries for the next couple days. We got back around 11 and left…

Traveling day (part 3)

16/07/19 – yesterday we spent most of the day in the spa, swimming and sliding down water slides since it was raining all day long. Despite the 10 min walks to the spa and back, the forecast was right. It cleared up a bit as we got back and the temperature rose again slightly. It’s been cold that day, around 10 – 12 degrees Celsius so it’s been nice to spend the day indoors. I slept good that night even though it’s not getting really dark outside. The night was…

Traveling day (part 2)

14/07/19 – today has been another beautiful Drive in Sweden’s amazing countryside. Luckily there weren’t as many highway sections as there were the last couple days. Reducing the pace and being able to stop here and there felt great. First we’ve left the flat part as a guy at the last gas station it has described. So we made our way into the rolling hills on our way to Uppsala. The pine trees and rocks and Meadows reminded me hard of parts of New England on the AT and also…

Travelling day (part 1)

13/07/19 – another day of traveling by car along Sweden’s highways has come to an end. We’re right before Stockholm but won’t drive through the city. I’ve been there a couple years ago with my friends from the AT. It’s a great City and has very cool people and places. But we figured that, since we are living in a bigger city back home, that we better skip it this time and shoot for a town located little further north, called Uppsala. That’s where we headed since this morning. After…
